Feed-in & purchase remuneration
Feed electricity into the grid and receive market-based remuneration
The feed-in remuneration is the money you receive when you feed self-produced renewable electricity into the public grid. It is now based on the current spot market price, i.e. the price of electricity at the time of feed-in. With this adjustment, you can benefit from higher prices and clearly see when it makes more sense to use the electricity yourself or to curtail generation.

New remuneration model
What the feed-in remuneration means
The current feed-in remuneration model is based on the reference market price, which is calculated retrospectively for each quarter by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy.
The purchase remuneration reflects the value of the energy fed in much more accurately:
  • High remuneration is paid for hours with electricity demand: The incentive to feed electricity into the grid and thus achieve a higher return per kilowatt hour increases.
  • Low remuneration is paid in hours with surplus electricity: This increases the incentive to raise self-consumption during sunny hours and relieve the burden on the grid.

The dynamic feed-in remuneration is particularly well suited to households that actively manage production, consumption and storage – ideally with an energy management system (EMS).
What benefits does the new model offer me?
Benefits of the new purchase remuneration for feeding electricity into the grid
The switch to dynamic feed-in remuneration is currently made via a form and is only possible at the start of a quarter.
After receiving your registration, BKW will check the requirements, in particular the necessary hourly metering. If the conditions are met, the change can be implemented on one of the planned quarterly change dates.
Price overview
How does it add up?
The spot market price is published for every hour of the following day. It applies regardless of the production technology and reflects the current market situation. Periods with high electricity production and low demand generally lead to lower prices. If supply is tighter and demand higher, the remuneration may increase. An EMS makes it easier to align consumption and storage with these price developments.

The SFOE reference market price shows the average market value achieved by electricity fed into the grid in a quarter. It is calculated by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy. A minimum remuneration of 6.00 Rp./kWh applies for PV systems up to 30 kilowatts. If the SFOE reference market price is below this, the difference is remunerated as a minimum remuneration premium.
You receive this premium regardless of whether or not you optimise your own consumption. If you manage your own consumption in a targeted way, you can additionally achieve a higher average price. The example has deliberately been simplified and is not a price forecast for 2026.
How the minimum remuneration works
The minimum remuneration is paid in addition to the feed-in remuneration. The amount depends on the output of your photovoltaic system. The total remuneration is therefore made up of the feed-in remuneration and the minimum remuneration.
Your remuneration
This will change by 2027
The dynamic feed-in remuneration does not affect every solar installation in the same way. You should therefore seek advice from a specialist partner of your choice at an early stage. Together, you can find a suitable solution for your installation.
