Why you should report the move yourself
When moving in and out, tenants and private owners must register and deregister their electricity themselves.
This is neither the responsibility of an administration nor of landlords. As a tenant or private owner, you receive the electricity and are therefore the contractual partner of BKW. Timely notification prevents you from being charged electricity costs incurred by subsequent tenants.

Process
Move house in four steps
After the online notification, BKW takes care of processing and – in the event of moving out – the final bill.
01Report a moveSimply and conveniently report your move-in or move-out online up to 10 days in advance.02Read meter readingWhen the keys are handed over at the end of the tenancy agreement, BKW reads the meter reading for your electricity consumption. This step is not required when moving in.03Confirmation receivedAfter the data has been processed, BKW will confirm your change of address.04Final invoiceWhen you move out, the final statement is usually sent to your new address within 4 weeks.
