Before the application

What you need for your LEG application

Prepare the required information about your LEG and the participants. This way, you will have everything to hand when you complete the application.

Apply for an EIC number

Define participants

Define which consumption and production metering points are to be part of your LEG. Ensure that the participants have agreed to participate.

Secure myBKW accounts

All participants need a myBKW account. If they do not yet have one, they must create it before registering.

Conclude contracts

Conclude a private-law contract with all participants and set out the conditions for participation in your LEG in it.

Have details about the LEG ready

Have the required information about the LEG and the participating metering points ready. You will need it for entry in the LEG portal.

Prepare billing

Clarify how you will bill for the electricity exchanged within the LEG. You need an EIC number to obtain the billing data.

Submit application

Once all the information and requirements are complete, you can apply for your LEG in the BKW LEG-Portal.

How to apply for your LEG

Enter your LEG in the BKW LEG-Portal and invite the participants to confirm. BKW will then review the application and prepare the activation.

Step 01

Register as an operator

Register on the BKW LEG portal as an operator.

Step 02

Configure LEG

Define the discount level, billing model and desired activation date.

Step 03

Enter participants and submit application

Enter all producing and consuming participants with their metering point number and submit the application. Important: Once submitted, you can no longer edit the application. You can only add further participants after the LEG has been established.

Step 04

Have participation confirmed

All registered participants must confirm their participation in the BKW customer centre no later than two months before the desired activation date.

Step 05

Inspection by BKW

BKW checks whether all requirements have been met. If this is the case, the LEG will be activated within three months at the selected time. If the requirements have not been met, we will inform you and reject the application. You can then apply for the LEG again. The participants must then confirm their participation again.

Step 06

Install smart meter

If individual participants do not yet have a BKW smart meter, it will be installed within the three-month period.

Step 07

Start LEG

After successful activation, your LEG moves into the operational phase.
