For trade partners
Classify feed-in remuneration and advise customers
Specialist partners help customers understand when the dynamic purchase remuneration makes sense – and whether battery storage systems, EMS or controllable consumers can make an economic contribution.

Dynamic remuneration model
Hourly market prices instead of average value
The feed-in remuneration reflects the value of the electricity fed into the grid each hour.
With the feed-in tariff, electricity fed into the grid is remunerated hourly according to the day-ahead spot market price for the Swiss market area. During hours with low or negative prices, feeding electricity into the grid may be unattractive; during hours of high demand, it may be more attractive. For customers, it is therefore crucial whether the system, storage, energy management and consumption profile can actively respond to these price signals.

Consulting and cost-effectiveness
When feed-in remuneration, battery and EMS may make sense
The appropriate recommendation depends on the customer’s metering, flexibility, consumption profile and risk appetite.

Check requirementsBefore making a recommendation, specialist partners should clarify whether the technical and organisational requirements for the dynamic model are met.
Switching process
How specialist partners support the switch
Prior to registration, a preliminary technical and economic assessment is recommended.
Specialist partners should clarify before switching whether metering, EMS, storage strategy and operational flexibilities are ready in order to make effective use of the dynamic model.
01Assess potential and flexibilityAnalyse PV output, feed-in profile, self-consumption, peak loads, battery storage, EMS and controllable loads.02Assess cost-effectivenessEvaluate potential additional revenues, avoided feed-in at low prices, self-consumption benefits, storage cycles, investment costs and operating expenses.03Apply for changeApply for the voluntary switch to the purchase remuneration via the form on the BKW website. The switch is possible for the following quarter.04Have measurement and start checkedBKW checks whether hourly metering with a smart meter or load profile meter is possible. If the requirements are met, the feed-in remuneration starts at the confirmed beginning of the quarter.
Pricing
Explain spot market prices and the minimum remuneration premium
The basis is the hourly day-ahead spot market price for the Swiss market area.
The spot market price is published for each hour of the following day. In hours with an electricity surplus, remuneration is usually lower; in hours with higher demand, it can rise. Negative prices are rare but possible; in such cases, feed-in can result in costs instead of a credit. Specialist partners should explain this mechanism clearly in customer discussions.
